Biography

Ravi Ranade is an Associate Professor of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering at the University at Buffalo (UB), State University of New York. He conducts fundamental and applied research in the area of advanced concrete materials and their applications for improving structural resilience and durability. His research on concretes with extremely high energy absorption capacity has been utilized and funded by the US Army Corps of Engineers for building protective structures. Ranade’s group has developed an innovative system to address corrosion-related deterioration of reinforced-concrete infrastructure and novel methods to monitor the corrosion activity in reinforced-concrete structures. He has also investigated the influence of corrosion-related deterioration on the long term resilience and sustainability of reinforced- concrete structures. Ranade has published his research in several international journals with very high impact. He is a member of several professional committees and scientific panels of the ACI, NSF, the US DOE, and multiple international conferences.
