Biography
Dr. Bhaba Sarker is an Elton G. Yates Distinguished Professor of Industrial Engineering at the Louisiana State University. He obtained his PhD degree from Texas A&M University, worked with World Bank, NASA (JSC, KSC, JSC) and taught earlier at UT-Austin and Texas A&M University. Professor Sarker published more than 180 papers in refereed journals, and more than 180 papers in conference proceedings and international conferences. He has supervised 10 post-docs, 10 PhDs and more than 30 Masters graduates. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers. He won the IISE’s national award, 2006 David F. Baker Distinguished Research Award, for his outstanding research in Industrial Engineering. He served on the editorial boards of many journals such AJOR, EJOR, COR, APJOR, CIE, IISE Transactions, JMS IJOPR, IJPE, and PPC. Dr. Sarker is a member of ASEE, DSI, INFORMS and his research was funded by DoT, USACE, NSF, ONR, USAE and NASA. He is currently working in the area of optimization, manufacturing systems and operations, lean production and supply chain logistics, energy systems, construction management, and transportation logistics.
